Thanksgiving is here (just yesterday if I’m right), and as we all know it’s the holiday where we share what we’re thankful for and celebrate giving thanks with those that we care about and love and are generally thankful for.  Instead of listing general things that I am thankful for (things like my mom’s apple pie, a deer named Amelia, and dancing alone in my room) I am going to share a few things about EC that I am particularly thankful for.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Before I even jump into specific things about EC I am thankful for, above all of those, I am thankful for the fact that EC exists.  There aren’t many programs that I know of in this country that can even compare to it, and I am so thankful that God placed EC here in Kalamazoo.  I am thankful that Pastors Jeff and Beth have a heart for people our age and that they felt the call to establish EC in the way that they did and are continuing to do.

I’m thankful to the leadership of Pastors Eric and Erica.  Without their leadership EC would be a completely different program.  They are a fundamental part of leading and shaping us into the people God has called us to be.  They do all that they can to have us flourish and grow in every aspect, and they teach us practical and important things we should know about our walk with God, and generally just our walk in life.  I am so thankful that we are able to learn from two people that follow the Lord so faithfully and diligently.

I’m thankful for the EC family, every single person that makes up our family.  My life has been changed because of every single person in this program.  The EC family is such a huge part of EC, and at the beginning of the year I wasn’t sure how big of a role it would have in EC.  Let me tell you: it’s a huge one.  Alone, we are all individuals with different personalities and interests but when we come together we are so much more than that.  I am thankful for all 33 of you, and so thankful that I am able to call you my brothers and sisters in Christ.

I’m thankful for my core group, and how much fun we have together.  EC sometimes feels like such a diverse group, and it’s hard to get to know everyone, but when you break it down it is so much easier to get to know people.  I’m so thankful that I have been able to get to know all of you, and relax with you all and have fun with you guys.  I look forward to core group nights every month because I enjoy spending time with all of you, and I can’t wait to see what next adventure that’s planned for us.

I’m thankful for all the classes, Strong Tower and Life Lessons, Student Devo’s and Prayer, Scripture Sessions and Heart to Hearts.  Every class presents something different and I am always able to take something away from each of them.  We’ve been in EC for over 3 months and I feel like I’ve learned so much.  Knowing that we have another 6 months almost blows my mind because I can’t wait to hear what else will be taught.

I could go on and on about all the things in EC that I’m thankful for.  My house, my friendships that I’ve formed, the skills I’ve been able to grow, my passions I’ve learned about, I could go on for hours.  Sadly, I don’t have that long so, for now, understand that I am thankful for absolutely every aspect of EC, and I have a feeling I will continue to be thankful for it for the rest of my life.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
