beach reach Mission Trip Information
On March 3-11th, 2017, for the 8th consecutive year, the EPIC Commission students will journey to Panama City Beach, Florida to participate in a Beach Reach Mission Trip. We will team up with 300+ other Christian college-age students and minister to the other college spring breakers through service and street evangelism (serving pancakes, free van rides, prayer, and fun).
Every Morning we will have the opportunity to minister to spring breakers at a free pancake breakfast that is open from 10am-1pm (some mornings we serve, other mornings we eat). Every night you will be involved in 1-2 of three potential ministry opportunities: street evangelism, van rides, or prayer room. The first shift is from 8:30-11:15pm and the second shift is from 11:15-2:00am.
Every morning we offer a free pancake breakfast to spring breakers. This pancake breakfast service is a great way to serve spring breakers by simply serving them breakfast for free. But, this pancake breakfast also serves as a great place to have genuine conversations with spring breakers where we can get to know them better and also have the opportunity to minister hope and love to them. Sometimes there are conversations and relationships with spring breakers that start in the vans or the streets at night, but then you can invite them to pancakes in the morning and have more sober and real conversations with them. Twice during the week we will be asked to serve one shift of the pancake breakfast, and then on the other mornings we will arrive to pancakes for breakfast and for conversations.
We will drive from Kalamazoo to Panama City Beach in 15 passenger vans. We will then use these vans during evening ministry to give free van rides to spring breakers. Early in the week we will pass out invite cards that have the free van ride hot-line phone number on it. Then in the evenings, there is a command center that receives these phone calls and gives us our van ride assignments. Throughout the night we will pick up various groups and safely transport them from their hotel to their desired destination (usually a club) or visa versa. The vans always have great conversations, and spring breakers are always so blessed to be given a free ride. In each van there is always a driver, a navigator (in the passenger seat), and 3-4 EC students sitting at the end of each bench to have conversations with spring breakers. Safety is always a high priority the whole week, so the interior van lights are always on and a male is always the "door man".
Every night there are thousands of college students walking the strip or roaming the beaches. Some of them are bar hoping, some are just hanging out on the beach or streets, and others have been deserted by friends. You will have the opportunity throughout the week to prayerfully walk the streets of Panama City Beach in a group of 3-4 (with at least one guy in each group), and allow the Lord to lead you to spring breakers who need encouragement, help, and/or are open to a relationship with Jesus. Early in the week you will hand out invites to the pancake breakfast/free van rides during street evangelism. You'll be amazed how God draws you to specific individuals who are interested in having spiritual conversations, ready to receive Christ, or have a "seed" planted.
Every night a large group of Beach Reach students will spend part of their night praying for what is happening out on the streets. Twice throughout the week, we will have the opportunity to join the prayer room with other Beach Reachers. While in the prayer room, we will be given real-time information via a projector screen of what is happening out on the streets: who is in what vans, if anyone is close to salvation, if someone's heart needs to be softened, etc. It is amazing to be praying for an encounter with God as it is happening.

Beach Reach Lifeway Website - Lifeway the publishing company and organization that hosts Beach Reach. This link will give you more info about the trip.
Laguna Beach Christian Retreat - This is where we will be staying while in Panama City Beach. It is a great retreat location. It is about 20 minutes away from the center of the strip, so every morning and evening we drive into the strip for ministry.
